Djivan Schapira’s Divergent Low Table, expands on his signature practice, marrying poured resin with visual motifs of retro futurism, pop art, and high-end decorative arts techniques such as marquetry and the use of heavy lacquer. Schapira’s mastery of the process of mixing and pouring resins has expanded the potential of contemporary design. The Divergent Series explores the material’s vast potential for dynamic visual impact. Candy colored transparent voids and reflective inlays within the table’s amorphous glossy surface interact with changing atmospheric light resulting in a chameleon play of refracted light. The possibilities for combinations, arrangements, and colors of the resin are endless, rendering each piece completely unique.
